Why Heat Treatment Is the Gold Standard
Chemical treatments for bed bugs require 2–3 visits over several weeks and cannot penetrate inside mattresses, inside wall voids, or deep inside furniture — exactly where bed bugs hide and lay eggs. Bed bugs also have developed widespread chemical resistance to pyrethroid pesticides, making chemical-only treatments increasingly ineffective in Miami's densely populated hotel, condo, and apartment environments.
Thermal remediation addresses all of these limitations: heat penetrates everywhere, kills all life stages in a single day, and bed bugs have zero ability to develop resistance to temperature.
Heat Treatment Process
We provide a prep checklist (remove medications, aerosol cans, heat-sensitive items, pets, and plants). Minimal prep compared to chemical treatment — no bagging clothes, no washing all linens before service.
Electric or propane heat equipment is positioned to heat the treatment space to 118–122°F. Temperature sensors are placed in multiple locations including inside mattresses and wall voids to verify lethal heat penetration throughout the space.
The treatment area is maintained at 118–122°F for 4–6 hours. Technicians monitor temperatures throughout and reposition fans to eliminate any cold spots. All bed bugs, eggs, and nymphs in the treatment zone are killed.
A residual insecticide is applied around the perimeter of the treated room as an optional add-on to prevent re-introduction from adjacent units in multi-unit buildings. Recommended for apartments and hotel rooms with shared walls.
Once the space cools (typically 1–2 hours after treatment ends), residents can return. No waiting period, no chemical odor, no need to discard mattresses or furniture.
